HAME MADE - Helen & David established the small business Hame Made in January 2016. Helen designs and hand knits 100% pure, superior quality cashmere. David has over 30 years’ experience in the Knitwear Industry in Hawick, our home town. During that time, he has gained extensive knowledge of Cashmere Yarns used to produce the highest quality cashmere knitwear in the world. This knowledge is without a doubt a huge contributing factor to the success of this small business. I also have a long history working within the knitwear industry but from a retail point of view. I have managed two shops selling direct to the public some of the high-quality cashmere garments produced in the factories in Hawick. For the last 7 years she has worked in Borders Textile Towerhouse. My Granny taught me to knit before I went to school and without a doubt Knitting is in my blood and is one of the skills that I have which helps me fulfilling my relentless urge to be creative. With David’s knowledge of the yarns and my ability to transform them into something people would want to buy. Hame Made hand knitted cashmere came into being. We started off by doing a few makers market and found ourselves involved in a wonderful world of lovely talented people who are of like minds as ourselves and we are now quite literally, living the dream.
